Mind, Body, Spirit

Pillars to Health

Functional nutrition falls under holistic (or wholistic) medicine, a form of healing that considers the whole person, including the Mind, Body, and Spirit.

The whole person is made up of parts that depend on one another, and if one part isn't working correctly, all the other parts will be affected. So, if there are imbalances (physical, emotional, or spiritual) in your life, it can affect your overall health.

When we examine the Mind, Body, and Spirit, it's essential to understand their intricate relationship. The health of your body affects your Mind and Spirit and vice versa. Therefore, you can't separate these things if you want to live a balanced and healthy life.

When we break it down to the most basic principles, all health outcomes return to the Mind, Body, and Spirit. These are the three most important aspects of human life: the inner being, the outer self, and the connection in between.

The Mind consists of thoughts, ideas, consciousness, and a subconscious Mind where instinctive thoughts are stored. The brain allows us to go from thinking to doing to BEING. It is your ability to reason and understand concepts.

The Physical Body is the structure that houses you! It includes our cells, fluids, organs, and other tissues. It is also where you physically feel your emotions, such as joy, happiness, fear, sadness, and anger.

The Spirit comprises higher-level energies such as intuition, inspiration, faith, and vision. These aspects cannot be seen in the traditional sense, but they make us who we are on a higher level than either Mind or Body alone.

We are not just made of what we can see but also electric, vibrational, energy beings. The vibrational frequency we resonate at is matched by the universe. Illness resonates at a low frequency, so we can generate, maintain, and regulate healthy energy if we live a life of high vibration. This is part of how the Mind, Body, and Spirit work together to maintain balance, harmony, and health.

We are ultimately responsible for our own health and well-being. When we live a balanced life, we can achieve optimal health.

Some guiding principles of a functional/ holistic approach to healing and health include:

All people have innate healing powers.

The client is a person, not a disease.

Healing takes a team approach involving the client and practitioner and addresses all parts of a person's life using various health care practices.

Treatment involves fixing the condition's root cause, not just easing the symptoms.

By focusing on all three aspects of ourselves and becoming proactive in maintaining balance between Mind, Body, and Spirit, we can lead more fulfilling, happier, and healthier lives.
